The family is unaware that they are being watched by someone with their own terrifying agenda, who will stop at nothing to fulfil their own twisted desires.

But when hidden secrets come rushing to the surface, it’s clear not everything is as it seems in this happy family. Are the Turners a victim of circumstance – or does the key to their fate lie closer to home?

This book is what nightmares are made of! I loved it.

A family enjoying a quiet barbeque on a Sunday are unaware that when a dying man shows up at their back gate, all hell is about to break loose.

You tried to save a life. Now you’re fighting to save your own.
It should have been an idyllic day for the Turner family – until a dying man, beaten beyond all recognition, arrives at their home, uttering the words, HELP ME.
Rob and Wendy Turner and their children try to explain away the horrific scene as being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but in the days that follow their lives are threatened in ways they could never imagine.

After that fateful Sunday odd occurrence start happening, and that is only the beginning.

A lot of the “happenings” could have been easily avoided if the father, Rob, pulled his head out of his ass. This would have also helped his family avoid a lot of hassle and pain.
This describes him perfectly…

“… the man was a blinkered, boorish oaf, obstinate to the point of insanity”

However I found all the other characters likable enough to make up for Rob’s abysmal attitude throughout the book. However I must say that his arrogance, whilst it made me want to hit him with a shovel, definitely added to the story line.

This is a well written psychological thriller, which vaguely reminded me of the movie ‘The Strangers’. If you are looking for a book with plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat I highly recommend this book.

I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review.

        1. The first movie was by far the best.
I’m not a fan of the second one, but I still have to watch the third one, just in case they got their act together lol.

It’s not as creepy as The Strangers, but that might be because it is a book not a movie lol.

            1. I love Stephen King! I am on a mission to collect all his books lol.
I saw a goosebumps box, it had about 60 books in. I was so tempted to buy it lol.

I’m fine with books. Movies get me! I think it’s the shock factor, things can jump out and scare you lol in a book nothing can jump out and shock you.

              1. I don’t know about that…sometimes they get pretty intense when you’re reading it…but I see what you mean.
Goosebumps: I read those for a little it, but I liked the Fear Street better because they were longer and more involved. The only one I really liked from Goosebumps was Say Cheese and Die.
Can you believe they wrote such scary books for kids? I don’t think they really do that anymore.

                1. Yeah they get intense and scary, I have some weird ass dreams. But it’s the shock factor that gets me lol.
I loved goosebumps as a kid, fear street was better. Nostalgia reasons 😂
Haha yeah it’s crazy right! Kids these days are sooks lol we used to read all the scary books and watch all the scary movies. It was the best lol.
