Love Me Never

Publication date:
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Read the book that Kirkus Reviews called: “A complex, witty page-turner, ideal for YA fans of scandal and romance.”

Don’t love your enemy. Declare war on him.

Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to Buttcrack-of-Nowhere, Ohio, to help her mom escape a bad relationship.

All the girls in her new school want one thing—Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.
The game board: East Summit High.
The reward: Something neither of them expected.

Previously published as Lovely Vicious, this fully revised and updated edition is full of romance, intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments.

My thoughts on Love Me Never…

Trigger warning for domestic abuse, terminal illness and various mental health issues.

So when I first picked up this book I thought it was going to be all insta-love and happily ever afters… Boy was I wrong.

Jack ‘The Ice Prince’ is everything you want in the male lead. He is gorgeous, witty and extremely standoffish. Hence The Ice Prince nickname. All the girls at school lust after him and all the boys are terrified of him. So pretty much perfection!

After a rocky start, I fell in love with the main character Isis. She is fun, witty and outgoing… on the surface. Down below there is much more going on. For the first couple of chapters or so her attitude towards herself almost made me stop reading the book. However as you learn more about her past you understand why she is the way she is.

“Did you have fun? How many boys did you make out with?” She asks.
“Seventy. At least.”
“How many shots did you take?”
“Fourteen. I let go of the wheel halfway home and Jesus drove me the rest of the way.”

I love that there isn’t really insta-love in this story. Isis declares war on Jack after he made the first girl that was nice to Isis cry. Yeah it is obvious what is going to happen and it is still cliche. But no they do not spot each other across a crowded room and instantly know they are meant to be. It was refreshing!

Fun, witty hilariousness aside, this book really tackles some serious issues, such as: domestic abuse, mental illnesses etc. and still manages to be a fun, easy read.

The author has done a great job developing all the characters in the story, whilst still keeping the book interesting. I can honestly say that there wasn’t really a character I hated in this book, except Nameless and Leo, but they are for obvious reasons and they are meant to be hated. So no throat punching whiny girls in this book. Yay!!

I love this book and recommend it to everyone.

All warfare is deception. Even in high school.

It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity. Since then, she’s punched Jack Hunter—
her nemesis-turned-maybe-something-more—in the face, survived a brutal attack by her mom’s abusive ex thanks to Jack’s heroics, and then promptly forgotten all about him.

The one bright spot for Isis is Sophia, the ephemeral girl who shares Isis’s hospital stay as well as a murky past with Jack. But as Isis’s memories return, she finds it harder and
harder to resist what she felt for Jack, and Jack finds it impossible to stay away from the only girl who’s ever melted the ice around his heart.

As the dark secrets surrounding Sophia emerge, Isis realizes Jack isn’t who she thought he was. He’s dangerous. But when Isis starts receiving terrifying emails from an
anonymous source, that danger might be the only thing protecting her from something far more threatening.

Her past.

If you haven’t read these books yet… Go out and buy them now!! Seriously!

Isis is back and as witty as ever!
The story continues with Isis, Jack and the gang following an incident that results in Isis losing her memory!!
This book was just as fun and hilarious as the first one. I was beyond happy that I could dive straight into this one after finishing the first… Not so patiently waiting on the third 😉  Honestly I need it now!!

This book takes more of a look into the issues raised in the first book. However this has a horrible twist at the end. Hence my need for the next instalment ASAP!!

Once again Sara has killed with the characters, writing, story line, everything!! I still love everyone!! No matter how shady some peoples pasts are. Lol.
Are you intrigued yet?
So once again I absolutely loved this book, but I just can’t manage to bring it up to 5 stars.

Great review! ❤ I do not normally "do" romance, but I appreciate skipping the instalove scenario when I decide to read a romance book. It sounds like everything about this worked pretty well for you!

Oh p.s. – I am from Buttcrack-of-Nowhere, Ohio 😉 so that made me giggle!
