My Thoughts…

This book is fantastic!! It’s such an interesting and original concept!! I am counting down the days until book 2!!
you're awesome
Sara Holland has created an amazing world where time is currency! It can be extracted from blood, bound to iron, consumed to add time to your life. This benefits the rich aristocracy, who are able to extend their lives to the point of a living skeleton.
However it makes life difficult for the poor who, due to high taxes, are forced to bleed themselves of their time. Which is just horrible, people are basically just waiting for their time to run out.
They have limited choices though. It is either pay ridiculous taxes for protection or take your chances on the outside. I know I would pay the taxes. I don’t think this would be a world I would like to live in, unless I was rich and could drink all the blood irons I want 😂😂😂
 i dont like it
This is the basis of the story. Our MC, Jules, accepts a job working for the Gerlings (rich a-holes). This is done against her fathers wishes, as he used to be the blacksmith for the Gerlings, until he was forced to flee, with Jules, in the dead of night.
I really enjoyed the world building throughout the book. I can honestly say that I haven’t read anything quite like this before.
I know I say this about a lot of books (its not my fault there are so many amazing books out there rn!) buuuut this book WILL suck you in, throw you around on an emotional roller coaster from hell, and then spit you out as a bumbling mess of feels.
I do have to say that I was not a fan of Jules. She is quite selfish and just really needs to get her shit together! She was lusting after a boy she knew years ago, who is clearly suss AF!
eye roll
Seriously the kid is shady as!
However his brother, Mr Tall, Dark and Brooding(also apparently the reason they had to flee Everless), is even shadier. But lets not get into that whole debacle! Just read the damn book and then come back and vent with me please.
Anyway the majority of the characters are interesting, I would like to say they’re likeable, but really there are only like two likeable characters. The rest are shady af! Everyone is shady, trust no one.
Aaaand Jules, like all MCs, does everything she’s been warned not to do.🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ They’ll never learn.
Despite a couple of typical cliche moments, this book is an original, fun read that I could not put down.
I would like to thank Hachette Australia / Date a Book for providing me with a copy of this gorgeous book. This has in no way affected my views and opinions. I still think y’all need to go read this book and I will keep telling you to read it until you do! 😂😂

About the Book…

Everless (Untitled #1)

Time is a prison. She is the key. Packed with danger, temptation and desire – a perfect read for fans of The Red Queen.

In the land of Sempera, the rich control everything – even time. Ever since the age of alchemy and sorcery, hours, days and years have been extracted from blood and bound to iron coins. The rich live for centuries; the poor bleed themselves dry.

Jules and her father are behind on their rent and low on hours. To stop him from draining himself to clear their debts, Jules takes a job at Everless, the grand estate of the cruel Gerling family.

There, Jules encounters danger and temptation in the guise of the Gerling heir, Roan, who is soon to be married. But the web of secrets at Everless stretches beyond her desire, and the truths Jules must uncover will change her life for ever … and possibly the future of time itself.

‘Sara Holland is a fierce storyteller. An intoxicating blend of blood, secrets, and haunting mythology, Everless gives new and terrifying meaning to the phrase running out of time.’ Stephanie Garber, New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of Caraval
